This is done through providing high quality, research-based instruction in an environment that supports every student.
We currently have over 100 staff members, many of whom hold special endorsements and/or Master's Degrees. Our teachers are committed to learning and using models of learning based on best practices and scientific research. Staff members have been recipients of awards such as the Huntsman Outstanding Teacher, Jordan School District Outstanding Teacher, Five Star Award, and Jordan School District Outstanding Classified Employee. Additionally, many of our staff members have been recognized by civic and community groups.
South Jordan Elementary students maintain good behavior, work cooperatively with each other and their teachers, and strive to achieve academically. Student performance on standardized tests has traditionally been above district, state, and national averages.
South Jordan parents are highly involved in the school and there is a cooperative spirit between the school and community as everyone works together on behalf of the students. Volunteers frequently visit the school to provide instructional assistance, teacher support, and student supervision. Over 1,500 volunteer hours are recorded each quarter. PTA provides many extracurricular activities, including field trips, for all students. Our School Community Council (SCC) works closely with the administration and faculty to meet the goals of the school.
Strong community involvement and high teacher quality are major reasons why South Jordan Elementary is regarded as an excellent elementary school.
