Hello students and parents!
My name is Mr. Durbin and I couldn’t be more excited to be kicking off another year of Singing Rams and Lambs at South Jordan Elementary. First and foremost, meeting times will be Tuesdays for the Singing Lambs (grades 1-3) and Thursdays for the Singing Rams (grades 4-6). Rehearsals will run from 8-8:45 with the first session being Singing Lambs on September 8th. Students do NOT attend twice a week, just once with the day depending on what grade they are in.
SJE Choirs are a low-stakes, friendly environment where students develop important musical skills. Any student graded 1-6 is invited to attend rehearsals with no formal “commitment form” or payment necessary.
Due to the amount of students who are in the choir program, it is difficult to create a dedicated contact list. All choir updates are sent out via ParentSquare to the email account you have given the front office. Please be sure to not ignore notifications you receive as you may be missing important information. My section of SoJo Elementary’s website will also be regularly updated with any important news or announcements.
Please mark October 15th at 6pm on your calendars for our Halloween concert. Students are allowed to wear their costumes on stage and it’s a tradition I look forward to yearly!
Our winter schedule will be slightly different this year because of the overwhelming support of these programs. Christmas concerts will be split by ensemble with the older students performing at South Jordan City’s Light the Night (December 4th) and younger students performing at Intermountain Healthcare’s Festival of Trees (date tentative). Sixth grade performers will also have the opportunity for a field trip to collaborate with the choir at South Jordan Middle in December.
